With obesity at an all time high and financial budgets tight; it is important to find a way to manage weight gain without putting out too much money. Enter body weight training. Body weight training or body weight exercises are a way of strength training that does not use dumbbells or weights but instead uses body weight as the resistance.

Defined simply, these are the types of exercises that people remember doing in their younger years; the jumping jacks, the push ups and the lunges. Put together this group of exercises can be called calisthenics. In calisthenics the body weight is used as the resistance to strengthen the muscles. This is especially true in people prone to lower <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >back pain and injury. Body weight exercises for the lower back are extremely important to help strengthen back muscles to avoid lower back injury.

Using body weight for resistance has many advantages. For example these types of exercises require no equipment. This makes them affordable. In some cases it may necessary to use commonly found items, like a chair, a pull up bar or a sturdy box. Another advantage is the fact that body weight exercises are easily changeable to suit the end goal. That is that they are adaptable to fitness levels. The best part of performing body weight exercises for the lower back they can be done anywhere and at any time and with minimum fuss.

No Equipment Workout for the Lower Back

Start the session by doing a warm up. Warm up exercises don’t have to be complicated; it can be as simple as walking in place. The warm up gets the blood flowing and increases the body temperature in preparation for the exercises for the lower back. Body weight exercises should only be performed in short bursts; about 30 seconds for each repetition. The length depends on the level of conditioning the person doing the exercises has.

Start of with the simpler exercise such as the “Superman”. In this exercise imagine the “Superman” pose as he flies through the sky; arms outstretched and feet help horizontally behind the torso. Assume this position while lying face down on the floor. Pick your arms and feet up off the floor and hold that position for up to 30 seconds while relaxing and focusing on breathing during the exercise.

The second exercise is almost like the previous one. The main difference is that instead of having your hands outstretched in front as in the “Superman” position, the hands are bent at the elbow; this position is like that of a “Parachuter” during free fall. The elbows are bent and shoulder blades squeezed together. Slowly raise feet and head off the floor. Hold the position for up to 30 seconds.

Ab Crunches are good to developing abdominal muscles whilst the reverse of an ab crunch can help use body weight to strengthen lower back muscles. Lie on your back with your hands by your side; palm down. Bend and lift your knees bringing then up towards your face. Hold the position for up to 30 seconds.

Another great body weight exercise for the lower back is the “back bridge”. Start by lying on your back, knees bent and hands palm side down stretched by your side. Tighten your butt muscles and raise hips off the floor. Make sure that a straight line is formed from your shoulders down to your knees. Hold the position for up to 30 seconds.

There are many different body weight exercises for the lower back, choose the ones that suit your goals and lifestyle. As with any other exercise programs, it is important to check with your doctor before you get started. Not only will body weight exercises help strengthen your lower back but they may get you moving towards a healthier lifestyle.

The spine is a wonderful marvel of engineering. Evolving over thousands of years, its double arches efficiently support and connect our body’s structures. Even so, poor posture is incredibly commonplace.

This is because many do not understand just how simple <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture really is, and the relatively few and simple principles involved. The key to good posture is to improve the structural integrity of the spine so that its efficiency takes over and has effects throughout the body. Good posture can be achieved by mastering four simple principles.

Strength is a muscle’s ability to tense, thus providing work to accomplish some task. Such tasks can be active, like lifting an object or running a race. Just as important are tasks that may not seem demanding at all, however. The support provided by your spine is one such job, and it is important for the hundreds of spinal muscles to properly tense such that the 24 vertebrae provide the support your body needs.

Flexibility represents a muscle’s length when fully stretched. Longer muscles are more flexible, and are usually more permissive in what your body is allowed to do. If muscles are short due to inflexibility, then other muscles must remain unnecessarily tense to provide support. Since strength is tension, these muscles are unnecessarily wasting your body’s energy on simple tasks, tiring easily, and causing mysterious aches and pains.

Relaxation is the ability to let go of tension from a muscle. In essence, strength is the ability to contract a muscle while flexibility is its ability to elongate. Relaxation represents a balance, a point at which the muscle is neither tensing or being held in an extended state. Relaxation is key to endurance, and to good posture as well. By relaxing, our body automatically assumes a natural and efficient posture, one often blocked by inflexibility and unnecessary use of tension.

Body awareness is your ability to keep tabs on what your body is doing. It lets you know when you are using strength, being flexible or relaxing successfully. It is a sense that develops over time, and can help you to learn when your spine is in proper alignment. Good posture requires great flexibility and little unnecessary use of tension. Heightened body awareness helps you spot areas that might be improved to promote a state of maximum relaxation.

By using <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >posture exercises, each of these skills can be practiced and improved simply, in just ten minutes per day. All of these skills must be developed, however, as each supports and complements the others. Neglecting just one may seem like an effective strategy, and may work in the short term. Over time, however, you will find yourself unable to progress further or regressing if they all are not developed.

Posture exercises are both an excellent means of short-term improvement, as well as a skill that will improve the quality of your entire life. With very little effort you can enjoy vast improvements to your health, stamina, daily aches and pains and appearance. If you’re searching for tangible improvement quickly, posture exercises may be just the thing you’re looking for.

A weak back is at the root of many health issues. While chronic <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >back pain is usually the most obvious consequence, there are many other health risks and issues that are associated with an un<a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >healthy back and spinal structure.

Poor posture is often the primary cause of an unhealthy back, and improving it may seem hopeless. Our current postures, poor though they may be, feel completely natural. How can something that feels so right be the cause of such great pain? Yet there is a simple secret that, when followed, can vastly improve your posture with little time and effort.

Your spine is one of your body’s most important parts. It is the core to which everything else connects, whether directly or via nerves. If your pine is weak and inefficient, then those weaknesses will manifest throughout your body, even in places you may not expect.

Improving the health of your back yields several benefits. First, your posture will improve, resulting in a better appearance and less back pain. You will become stronger and able to lift heavier weights as the muscles in your back begin lending their support to your arms. You will also gain endurance, becoming able to sit or stand for longer periods without pain or fatigue.

Your spine consists of hundreds of muscles which must all work together to keep your 24 vertebrae aligned. This precise alignment forms a double arched structure which is key to supporting your head, shoulders and the many other muscles and bones that impose their demands on your core. If your spine cannot support this weight, you will slouch. In addition to appearing unattractive, slouching fatigues muscles throughout the back, leading to chronic pain.

Your body is smart. It has evolved a sophisticated system of unconscious responses and defense mechanisms designed to protect you from serious injury. One such mechanism involving the back physically prevents your arms from lifting an object if your back is incapable of supporting the weight. The arm muscles simply won’t turn on. By strengthening the back, this defense mechanism can be overcome and your strength will increase as the many muscles of the back work with the arms and lend their support.

By improving your back’s health, you will also improve endurance. You will stand and sit for longer periods without unnecessarily tensing muscles. By not creating unnecessary tension, you will fatigue less, and in turn won’t experience the pain resulting from the buildup of fatigue toxins and the lessened blood flow in tense muscles.

Back exercises should strengthen all of the core muscles connected to your spine. This includes legs, hips, shoulders and the muscles of the neck.

Back strengthening exercises should also work the muscles as a group, since rarely are back muscles used alone. Support, not isolation, is key to a healthy back exercise regimen.

Back strength is not only important for your health. It inspires confidence, both in yourself and in how others regard you. By strengthening the back, you can experience tangible improvements in many areas with very little daily time and effort.

This is because many do not grasp just how simple <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture really is, and the relatively few and easily-practiced principles involved. Put simply, good posture involves improving the structural integrity of the spine so that its efficiency takes over and has effects throughout the body. Good posture can be achieved by mastering four simple principles, and is key to lessening or eliminating <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >back pain.

Strength measures a muscle’s ability to hold tension, thus providing work to accomplish some task. Such activities can be active, like lifting an object or running a race. Just as important are tasks that may not seem physically demanding at all, however, such as sitting up-right for eight hours at a stretch. This is only possible because your spine’s muscles provide hours of hard effort, and it is important for the hundreds of spinal muscles to properly tense such that the 24 vertebrae provide the support your body needs.

Flexibility represents a muscle’s length when fully stretched. Longer muscles are more flexible, and are usually more permissive in what your body can accomplish safely and painlessly. If muscles are short due to inflexibility, then other muscles must remain unnecessarily tense to provide support. Since strength is tension, these muscles are unnecessarily wasting effort on simple tasks, tiring easily, and causing mysterious aches and pains.

Relaxation is the ability to let go of tension from a muscle. In essence, strength is the ability to contract a muscle while flexibility is its ability to elongate. It is a sense that develops over time, and can help you to learn when your spine is in proper alignment. Good posture requires great flexibility and little unnecessary tension. Heightened body awareness helps you discover areas that might be improved to promote a state of maximum relaxation.

Over time, however, you will find yourself unable to progress further or even regressing if they all are not developed.

Posture exercises are both an excellent means of lessening or eliminating back pain, as well as a skill that will improve the quality of your entire life.

We have all been conditioned to believe that isolating our muscles and exercising them in individual sections helps us concentrate on properly working an individual area. Experts are now realizing that this isn’t the best idea. Working all the muscles in unison is known as full body spine exercises and is found to be more useful that the old way of exercising.

The muscles that are connected to the spine are known as the “core”. These muscles work together to coordinate the movements of many joints in different directions, so its very important to keep them well toned and strong. The stability of the core is essential to the success of every athlete. They realize that the core muscles are the foundation for every other movement.

When a small group of muscles are worked individually, they are built to a degree that they are able to stand alone, but are they able to hold up to the strain of working with the other muscles? Of course they can’t. Within the torso, the pelvis, spine, and muscles work to support the scapula and work together to create a solid base that supports the muscles. This makes it clear that muscles are meant to work in unison, contracting and releasing, working together as the full body spine exercises do.

If a small group of muscles are worked individually, they can be toned and built to stand alone, but is it possible for them to stand the strain of working together with surrounding muscles? Of course that’s not possible. Inside the torso, the muscles, pelvis and spine all support the scapula and work together to create a base of solid support for the muscles. This proves that the muscles of the body are meant to work in unison, contracting and releasing, working together as in the full body spine exercises.

There are many who argue that muscles must be isolated in order for each muscle to become as strong and independent if need be. To a certain degree this does make sense but unfortunately, not true. Muscles are interconnected and if one muscle becomes more flexible and stronger than an attached member, it will put strain on the weaker muscle, causing a terrible imbalance. This also has a lot to do with our functional fitness, that is to say, the essential performance of our daily living and normal regular activities. Full-body spine exercises will keep all muscles at full potential when needed regularly. Injuries are also reduced when the muscles interact with one another to protect the weak from sprains.

While isolation exercises have been the popular method for keeping muscles in shape for years and years, full spine exercises are entering to make a big difference in full body coordination. People are learning that working a variety of muscle groups at one time and as a team is exactly like a well tuned engine. When all the parts of your car work together the car runs well, but as soon as one part weakens the would engine is affected.

Poor posture is not just a pain in the back, it is a pain in the neck, the knees, the head and the hips. It can even cause digestive issues and stomach upset. The human body is designed for optimal function with a straight spine, not slumped shoulders or a swayed back. These examples of poor posture throw off your body’s natural alignment. When this occurs, the result is difficult mobility, pain and discomfort not just in the back or neck, but throughout the body. Every part of the body can be affected by poor posture. Internal organs may even be crowded so they are not able to function correctly.

The longer you live with poor posture, the harder time you’ll have getting yourself back into proper alignment. It can be done, but it will take some work. Poor posture can weaken your neck, back and abdominal muscles. By stretching your spine and the muscles which attach to it can help you to regain your natural, healthy posture.

Many exercise programs have been developed which are designed to help people relearn <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture. However, the majority of these programs don’t focus on stretching the spine. Any program which doesn’t do this won’t provide any kind of lasting effect. Stretching the spine is the most important part of getting rid of poor, slumped over posture.

Your spine is one of the most important parts of your body. Your backbone carries nerves which convey messages between your brain and the rest of your body and support almost all of your movements. Your spine is made up of a series of bones called the vertebrae which are cushioned by discs of connective tissue and are connected to the muscles of your back.

Good posture depends on taking care of your spine. Your posture effects your muscles, joints and even your organs are made to work their best when your posture is good.

Tension in the back muscles which connect to your spine can lead to poor posture, causing a serious amount of pain both in your back and throughout your entire body. Other than pain, it can also cause fatigue, limit mobility, headaches and even constipation and other digestive problems.

The best way to relieve muscle tension and restore natural posture is stretching. Having a strong, flexible spine means that the rest of the muscles in your body don’t have to work quite as hard.

Stretching relieves pain, eases tension and increases your range of mobility. Your entire body can perform more efficiently and you’ll even experience a higher energy level and more restful sleep. Muscle tension can cause a whole host of problems; but stretching can relieve these issues and prevent further pain and stiffness.

Stretching is a vital part of any exercise program aimed at improving posture. An effective program will include <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >posture exercises, spine stretching exercises, strength training, relaxation and more. If you find a program which works well for you and perform your exercises consistently, you’ll achieve better posture and get rid of your <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >back pain in a hurry.

When you have poor posture, you feel it everywhere. Your back aches, your knees hurt, you may have headaches and even stomach upset. Your body is designed to align a certain way and when you slump your shoulders or arch your back all the time; that alignment is thrown off. This creates a domino effect of pain, discomfort and difficult mobility. Slumped shoulders leads to neck pain, <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >back pain and even problems with the hips, knees and ankles. It can also cause internal organs to become crowded which leads to stomach upset and other issues.

Over the course of time, a person who has poor posture will literally train their body to remain in that position. Core muscles weaken and the body slowly yields to the poor posture. While this leads to painful posture, there is good news because this can be remedied rather easily. Core strength training can strengthen the body and retrain it to assume good, healthy posture naturally.

Posture programs come a dime a dozen, but most fail to recognize the importance of strengthening the core. When this crucial aspect of <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture is overlooked, the result is typically failure to correct the problem for the long term. Strengthening the core is absolutely vital if you want to have good posture and maintain good posture throughout your lifetime.

In its most general sense, the core is the body without the arms and legs. The major muscles that make up the core lie in the mid and lower back area and in the abdominal region. They also include the muscles of the neck, shoulders and hips. This is where all functional movements, such as swinging a bat or walking, originate.

It is the core that keeps the body in an upright position and is the crux of movement. It is also the building block of pain free posture. Without these vitally important muscles working together efficiently and correctly, the posture reverts to a painful and even damaging, unhealthy state.

While you should engage in regular exercise at least three times a week, incorporating core work and weight bearing exercises, you should not overwork your core muscles. You use your core muscles every day to walk, sit, get dressed, just about everything you do relies in some part on your core muscles. To injure them would make moving about rather difficult and painful. Injuring your back can render you immobile so take care when you are working out your core area.

The best way to work your core is in a coordinate manner, working the muscles as a group. Isolating the muscles, particularly if they are weak, is inviting injury. Each of the muscle groups relies on the other for support. For example, the back muscles are also supported by the abdominal muscles. This is why when you work the core, work the groups of muscles together.

Always stretch prior to working out. Stretching increases muscular strength and helps to prevent injury. If you are tense or overflexed, you can injury yourself. Stretching helps you achieve strong, supple muscles.

If you are serious about correcting your poor, painful posture, find a program that includes proper core training. Pay attention to form and listen to your body. If you experience pain during exercise, stop and try something else. If the pain persists, see your doctor. If your body is way out of alignment, it will take some time to get your posture back were it needs to be. But once you get there you can have a great time enjoying your new found confidence as you look taller and thinner and your back is pain free.

You should know by now that bad posture is one main cause of body or neck pain. However, posture cannot be easily corrected overnight, so you still need to go through a number of things to relieve yourself from the pain. And as the saying goes, prevention is way better than cure, the first thing you can do to avoid these neck pains is to prevent it by following a posture correction program.

Here is a list of what you can stop yourself from doing too much so you can also lower the risks of neck pains:

Holding your head too far forward strains your neck muscles due to the weight of your head. This is why <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture involves evenly distributing your weight to the whole body. To avoid this, just move closer to the object you are trying to get closer to.

Hunched shoulders maintain too much tension in the area, and tends you to stick your head forward. Do some exercises for rounded shoulders posture to relieve the tension.

Cricked neck usually happens when you are hunched in front of a computer and your neck is curved to get a better look at the screen. This causes a lot of tension in the back of the neck, thus, neck pains. You can avoid this by tilting the screen more upwards so you wouldn’t need to hunch over it.

Couch or reader’s neck happens when you rest your head up on the arms of the couch or when you read on your side and your head is propped by your arms. It might not hurt at first, but after a few minutes it can be really painful. Listen to that pain! It’s telling you “Please stop!”

Timid head is what they call the cause of your neck pain when you look too much on your feet, straining the neck muscles too hard.

Holding your chin too high is also a form of bad posture straining the neck muscles. This habit causes neck pain because the muscles on the front of your neck are stretched too much. It is much better to hold the head straight forward.

Maintaining good body awareness during the day can help you catch these neck pain culprits. Along with watching after these bad habits, there are still other ways and methods how you can correct and even stop these things from regularly causing you much neck pain.

One of these remedies involves regular exercises that mainly work the neck muscles. Flexing and stretching the neck in every possible direction (carefully, though, as the neck is a very sensitive body part and accidents involving it can easily lead to fatal conditions) is a very good routine that easily relaxes the tensed muscles in the area. Try to work neck <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >posture exercises into your daily routine. Or do them when you need some relief.

Opting for more natural ways to cure and prevent neck pains is still the best, and cheapest, option you can get. The best option is a posture exercise program. By choosing a natural method of addressing the problem, you are guaranteed of a safer way to immediately solve your neck pains, and you can even contribute to the calls for more sustainable lifestyle. This way, you can give back after the wonderful help nature has provided you with.

Whether you simply glimpsed yourself in a mirror and noticed how deep your slouch was or you have been noticing twinges in your back and sides and would like to do something about it, you’ll find that it is time to take a look at some of the posture correction exercises that you can take advantage of. There are plenty of exercises out there that are meant to bring your posture back into true, and so make sure that you consider some of the best.

There are four things to focus on in a posture correction program. These four things complement each other and they are all necessary for good, pain-free posture.

Strength Strength is how much tension you can make your muscles generate over a period of time. Strengthening exercises for posture will exercise all of the muscles that connect to the spine. Those muscles are called “The Core Muscles”. Remember that good core strength is an essential part of <a href="http://www.howtoimproveposture.com/ltbp"target="_top"rel="nofollow"title="Lose the Back Pain" >good posture; unless your core muscles are toned and fit, it will be much harder for you to maintain good posture. These muscles include the neck muscles, shoulder muscles, lower back, abdominal muscles, and the hip and pelvis muscles. Be sure to strengthen all of those up with some nice holistic exercises.

Flexibility Flexibility is roughly the maximum length of your muscles. In a contracted state, your muscles are at their shortest. Measuring how long they are measures flexibility. Stretch out the same muscles as for strength. One great stretching exercise that stretches the whole back with an emphasis on the low back is the standing forward bend. It is a great low back exercise.

Relaxation Relaxation is the ability to consciously relieve tension from a muscle with your mind alone. I don’t mean stretching out any tension. I mean focusing on the muscle and watching the tension melt away. It’s rare to see that kind of exercise, but it exists in Tai Chi and Chi Kung, two Chinese exercise systems. It is often easier to relax a muscle while it is moving. Try the dynamic cat pose yoga posture for a good exercise to do.

Body Awareness This one is often undervalued and overlooked in many exercise programs. Body awareness is quite simply how good you are at listening to your body. It is telling us many things, but often we don’t listen. Read about the importance of body awareness exercises.

Take some time and consider what posture correction exercises are going to suit you. You want a system that will include all four of these dimensions. Otherwise, something important might be left out. There are tons of systems that only focus on strength. They are incomplete. Make sure your system focuses on your entire being to find a relaxed, balanced, and comfortable posture.

The cat pose is a great way to get your back warmed up and relaxed. It’s a great addition to your back exercises. It directly targets muscles all along the spine, giving them a good stretch. It also helps lubricate the spine and bring the vertebrae through their full range of motion. The dynamic cat pose (alternating between cat and cow) is a good way to pump spinal fluid all over the spinal cord. It is incredibly relaxing and good for your posture.

Imagine a cat who is scared out of his wits. He’s on all fours, and his back is rounded up. That’s the pose you’re going to strive for. You don’t have to be scared, but you want your back to arch up. Imagine the middle of your back is being pulled up, and your head and sore tailbone are being lengthened toward the ground. This stretch is great for getting all of the muscles along the spine to relax and stretch out. See if you can relax even more and really dig deep into the stretch. Remember, this is a relaxing pose and should not be done with any strain.

The second pose we’ll work on is the cow pose. The cow pose is the opposite of the cat pose. It this pose, your back is sinking down and your head and tailbone are stretching upward. This stretches the tissue around the tailbone and articulates the spine in the other direction. Remember, no strain. This is a stretching posture exercise.

The dynamic movement is to switch between them. Exhale as you round the back up into cat, and inhale as you come down smoothly and gently with the breath into cow. Try to feel a continual pull to lengthen your spine. That means that the head and tailbone are moving away from each other. Continue to move between the poses, with the breath, and try to deepen the relaxation of the entire spine with each movement. Make sure to work on body awareness during the entire thing and it should feel really good.

This exercise, along with strengthening exercises can form a complete posture exercise routine.
